Brno, the capital of the region South Moravia, lies at major international crossroads: from there you can get to Vienna, Prague, or Bratislava by car in under two hours The city’s long tradition of international trade fairs means it can provide many suitable facilities, including modern congress spaces, quality hotel and catering services, as well as convenient and transportation methods. The Brno – Tuřany international airport connects the city with Munich, London, Milan and several other destinations.
This region is where history was made and many global stories began. In the 18th and 19th centuries it was called “Moravian Manchester”, as local textile factories rose to global importance. Then the region made a name for itself among engineering leaders, built up the largest exhibition grounds in Central Europe, and today boasts its position as an epicentre for research and development. It was here that Gregor Mendel defined the laws of inheritance, Viktor Kaplan developed his turbine, Kurt Gödel started to work on his logical theorems, and where Leoš Janáček began his musical journey. Brands like Zetor, Zbrojovka, Lachema, Tesla, and Královopolská will forever stand as proof that this is where people have always managed to turn their visions into reality.
And it is not just this region’s past that was driven by knowledge – its future is, too. Unique cooperation between local universities, research institutes, and the private sector have resulted in massive business development in the field of high technologies. Every year thousands of promising young people come here to begin their careers at local high schools and universities. Brands such as AVG, Y Soft, Safetica, Kiwi.com, and dozens of other products and companies with global reach are based in the region. It is also where prominent specialists in the field of human body sciences (ICRC) meet, as well as the base of operations for the Central European Technological Institute (CEITEC), one of the top international science and research projects in Europe.
